Mark presents a non-contact, non-destructive method of accurately measuring coating film thickness on the interior and exterior of both two and three-piece cans, featuring optical sensory technology.

For over 25 years at Nordsonâ Corporation, Mark Novotny has been involved in the development and commercialization of products and applications used throughout the world by canmakers to achieve greater productivity, reduce costs, and increase operating efficiencies.  He is currently Global Marketing Manager for Nordson's Container Systems Business, providing products that apply, control, cure, and measure coatings, sealants, and lubricants used in the 2pc and 3pc can-making industry.

Bill examines the regulatory issues currently facing the two and three-piece can industries as well as industry responses to educate government agencies, the news media, and consumers with the actual facts regarding these crucial challenges.

Bill has a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University and a BS with a dual major in Chemistry and Mathematics and a minor in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. He has more than 30 years experience in the packaging industry. Currently he is an industry consultant in the areas of regulatory affairs, material selection, project selection and project management.
